Communities with a larger share of local businesses have stronger economic and social relationships, higher levels of civic engagement, and better success solving problems. Compared to online mega-retailers and non-local chains, locally owned businesses reinvest a much larger share of their revenue back into the local economy, enriching the whole community. Communities with a larger share of local businesses help to sustain downtown and neighborhood commercial districts, reducing pollution, and improving environmental sustainability.
GO LOCAL was launched in 2010. Since then, we have become THE source for all things local in Sonoma County:
- Promoting local businesses and organizations
- Educating consumers about the benefits of buying locally
- Helping hundreds of businesses annually increase local sales through marketing and advertising
- And, ultimately, getting more dollars recirculating into the local economy.
