Chris Barney is the Director of Planning at SCTA, responsible for periodic updates to SCTA’s major ongoing plans – including the Comprehensive Transportation Plan. He also oversees the many other specific plans and planning reports for which the SCTA is responsible. Chris is the staff liaison for local and regional planning activities.

Chris worked for various local and state agencies focused on public works, asset management, transit planning and engineering, urban planning, technology, and public health before joining the SCTA in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Arizona State University and his Master of Science degree in Geography from the University of Utah. His studies focused on urban and regional planning and land use and transportation modeling, and quantitative methods.
