Elizabeth Krauth is Director of the North Bay U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) in San Rafael. The North Bay is home to numerous clean tech, software, and telecommunications companies. Elizabeth focuses on the cleantech sector and has helped renewable energy, green building, and clean transportation companies with overseas sales. Located on the campus of Dominican University, the North Bay USEAC works with this internationally-focused institution to expand the reach and breadth of assistance offered to U.S. companies.
Elizabeth has also worked in the Commerce Department’s offices in Malaysia and Bulgaria. While in Malaysia, she assisted with then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s participation in the ASEAN Ministerial Meetings as control office for bilateral meeting logistics. These meetings took place during the 2006 Lebanon War and involved many sensitive discussions between the Secretary and her counterparts from Korea, Japan, China, Pakistan, and the European Union, among others. While in Bulgaria, she worked with numerous U.S. companies to help them sell to the Bulgarian government.
Prior to joining the U.S. Commercial Service, Elizabeth worked in the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Business and Industry Security. While in Washington, she also lobbied Congress on behalf of California cities, ports, and public utility agencies. Elizabeth also worked as a political consultant during the 1986 House and Senate campaigns, and worked for a Member of Congress.
Elizabeth was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but grew up in South Korea, where her parents were educational missionaries. She has traveled widely both for business and pleasure. She has a BA in political science from Birmingham-Southern College and a master’s degree in Asian Studies from the University of San Francisco. She lives in Marin County with her husband and two sons.
