Leslie Lukacs

Leslie Lukacs is a sustainable materials management specialist at SCS Engineers and has over 18 years experience providing sound environmental and zero waste consulting services for the private and public sectors.

Leslie specializes in the design and implementation of comprehensive sustainability and zero waste programs for large institutions, public agencies, venues, and events throughout the Nation. Experience includes recycling program development and coordination, stakeholder outreach management, waste audit and characterization studies, compliance, and grant writing and administration.

Leslie has been instrumental in pioneering the greening of venues and events in the USA and is a leading advocate for the industry. She has implemented diversion programs at national football stadiums, government event facilities, universities, theme parks, convention centers, performing art centers, fairgrounds, and hundreds of community and sporting events.

Leslie is founder and Board Member of the Green Initiatives for Venues and Events (GIVE) Council, an organization dedicated to increasing the awareness of implementing sustainable and zero waste programs at venues and special events. Under Leslie's direction, GIVE was the lead sponsor to a California venue and events recycling bill that was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger in September 2004.

Leslie is co-founder of the Compost Coalition of Sonoma County which is made up of a diverse coalition of citizens and organizations that champion efforts to keep and process organic materials in Sonoma County. Leslie co-developed and is an instructor for an accredited course on Zero Waste Events and Venues for the GreenEducation.us Sustainable Resource Management Professional Certification Program and was an instructor for a California Resource Recovery Association’s Certified Resource Recovery Professional course.

Leslie serves on the Board of Directors of the Zero Waste International Alliance and is an advisor to Zero Waste USA and California Resource Recovery Association.
