Laura Goldman

Solar Works Maven and KOWS Radio Hostess with the Mostess

Laura Goldman has been an integral part of Solar Works since 1986, providing staff support and serving as a link to customers, community and the world at large. Increasingly retired from regular work hours, Laura was a long-time instructor in the Santa Rosa Junior College Community Health Worker (CHW) Program, and is on the program’s advisory board. Laura was awarded Emerita status after serving on the West County Health Centers board of directors for nearly 30 years. With an MA in medical anthropology, Laura has been a core faculty member and health counselor at World College West, international community health educator, Spanish language interpreter and translator, and consultant to academic institutions, foundations and community-based organizations in the US and internationally – as well as a high school and adult learner Spanish teacher.

In 2015, as a Fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy, Laura envisioned, co-produced and hosted the Being the Change Radio series, featuring interviews with local leaders who are transforming our economy. Passionate about the power of community radio, Laura hosts a weekly show, Laura’s Living Room, Fridays 5 to 7 pm, 92.5 FM, and online at KOWS.FM. Laura is a proponent of all things local, irrepressible volunteer and life-long peace and justice activist. She enjoys hiking, being in the garden and solar-heated hot tub, practicing tai chi, connecting with friends and family, and exploring the world.
