Zeno Swijtink, Ph.D.

Leader - Slow Food Russian River

Zeno Swijtink teaches philosophy at Sonoma State University. He is a Leader of the Slow Food Russian River convivium (, the faculty advisor of the SSU Slow Food student chapter and the convener of the SSU Sustainability Work Group.  He was born in the Netherlands where his ancestors have been bakers and farmers for seven generations. He represents Slow Food Russian River on the Policy Committee of the Sonoma County Food System Alliance. He received his PhD from Stanford (1982), has worked on watershed and land-use isssues for the Sonoma County Conservation Council and is the founder of the Atascadero and Green Valley Watershed Council. He is a Fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy.
